FAQ

My tool Is stuck inside the top cap, what do I do?

There are a couple possibilities for this:

1. Is the mutli tool oriented correctly within the EDC tool body? If it is backward and not meshing will the tire lever, the tool will bulge and be difficult to remove

2. The multi tool side plate bolts have loosened off and are jamming against the top cap.

For both situations the solution is to: 1. Loosen the stem bolts

2. Using soft jaw pliers, or pliers with a cloth, loosen off the top cap.

3. pull the top cap and tool off the steerer tube.

4. Either remove the multitool, or tighten the side plate bolts. The tool will then slide out of the top cap and you can reassemble everything correctly.

Please email support@oneupcomponents.com if you have any trouble with this process, or damage anything, and we will be happy to help.

Why is my tool hard to remove from the top cap?

It is likely that the top O-ring is dry. Best thing to do is rub a small amount of grease onto the o-ring and re-install it.

If that does not help, please email us at support@oneupcomponents.com.

Will threading my fork steerer void my fork warranty?

Although some companies will state that threading their steerers will void the warranty, we have not been shown evidence of any failures directly a result of a threaded steerer tube.

Can I install a star nut after threading the steerer tube?

It will likely damaged the threads for further use, but you can if necessary, install a star nut in a steerer tube that has been threaded.

Can I buy just the bottom fork plug?

We do not have the fork plugs available as a single item. they are only available within the top cap kit.

Great in-bike tool system!

"Once I could wrap my brain around how this system worked, I HAD to have it in my bike! I’ve since installed it on at least five bikes, and my three bikes are currently equipped with it, so i don’t even have to think about whether I have tools with me. The tap kit works really well too."

perfect

"easy install. works great on the trail. perfect tool"

Patrick D. (5/5)

Perfect for what I needed

"This was an ideal solution to help me set up my bike for barspins"

Marcel H. (5/5)

Incredible machining.

"Does what it should and looks great doing it!"

Dan P. (5/5)

Good… could be great

"The OneUp EDC is a genuinely clever and well-designed system. Having tools neatly integrated into your bike is incredibly convenient, and overall the concept is, IMO, still market-leading. That said, it’s not without its flaws, and setup can be a bit of a faff. The main issue I’ve found is with the top cap: it consistently requires more torque than a standard top cap to properly remove headset play. In practice, this makes it easy to slip while tightening, which chews up the alu teeth on the cap. I’ve already had to replace mine several times down the years, which is frustrating. And I know I’m not alone. . . Suggestion to OneUp: Consider offering replacement top caps separately at a low cost (around $10). It would make a big difference for users experiencing wear and tear – and would turn a very good product into a GREAT one."

Barely fits for some reason,

"Barely fits for some reason, preload is pretty finicky. Also, 40$ for three pieces I’ll use? Just seems pricey."

Andrew D. (3/5)

Through headset routing for barspins

"I used this to allow easy routing of the front brake through the headset. Very easy to install and works perfectly!"

Lee B. (5/5)

Wish I had gotten earlier

"After fitting 2 bikes with the threadless EDC holder I had a fork that would not fit one. I had been dubious on threading the steerer tube previously, but figured it was worth a shot. Stupid easy, more storage space. This is the route I will go from now on."

Aaron P. (5/5)

Edc

"easy to install with the tap, I have done my fox 40 and fox 38 forks now, bit of sanding for the fox 38 to get the tool to fit, 2015 fox 40 only fits small storage on the bottom(tapers down too much for the large storage) super happy with all Oneup component prodaucts"

Mark F. (5/5)

Still waiting to try it out

"When I purchased this, it wasn't clear that I needed to tap the shock tube. I haven't gotten around to installing it because I need to find a shop that will tap it and this is additional effort. I would buy and tap myself if I new the tap thread size."

Q&A

Hi, I have a 2022 Norco Range VLT A1 E-Bike and would like to fit the OneUp Components EDC V2 Tool - i am unsure if the Components EDC Threaded Top or the OneUp Components EDC Threadless Stem Tool Carrier will fit. The fork on the bike is FOX Performance FLOAT 38, 3 Position, 44mm Offset, E-Rated. Could you please let me know? Cheers Jason
Hey Jason, Thanks for your message, I'm happy to help.  For your fork, unfortunately only the EDC Lite is compatible, provided the steerer tube is at least 210mm long. Our 100CC EDC Pump would be a better option to carry the V2 Tool in this case. Please let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.  Cheers,
Morning, Andrew from Yarra Valley Cycles in Australia, just wondering when the EDC threaded top cap in blue, not dark blue, will be back in stock. Thank you.
Hi Andrew, Thanks for your message, I'm happy to help. The original blue colour has now been discontinued, the newer darker blue will be replacing it. Hope this helps, please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you. Cheers,

Service
